John E. Goddard
Funeral Director, Embalmer, & CCO

John Edward Goddard became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 2011 and became the 5th generation in his family to do so. With passion and dedication, he walks grieving families through one of the hardest, most difficult times of their lives by planning and conducting a service that celebrates the life of their beloved family member and/or friend.

From a young age, he watched his father, uncle, and grandfather help families understand the processes involved after the loss of a loved one. He saw how devastated and confused family members were when their loved ones passed away. Then, he would watch his dad walk over, get down on one knee, and tell the family, “Everything is going to be okay,” and their whole demeanor would change. John could tell his father's presence had a calming effect that put the family at ease. Being a witness to this effect made him appreciate his father’s role in the community and drove his passion for following in his dad's footsteps and becoming a funeral director.

Upon graduating high school, John attended Jefferson State College, where he earned a degree in Applied Science. He then served his internship with McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins, Georgia, and stayed on and grew as a professional. He was also blessed to work with and learn from some of the best teachers and funeral directors the industry has to offer. This knowledge and experience enhanced his dedication and passion for funeral service.

He is honored to serve Decatur and Metro Atlanta and takes great pride in assisting families of this community by offering comfort and reassurance in their time of need. He is committed to providing a uniquely personal experience that accentuates each family’s needs and wishes.
