Jay was born May 17, 1956 at Emory in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Briarcliff High School in Dekalb County. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from West Georgia College. On April 24, 1993 he married RoseMary Bocock, the former RoseMary Kowalski. They celebrated 25 cherished years of marriage this year. Jay dedicated his life to his grandfather, Euel Edmond Bocock and worked with him at Lamar Ferrell Chevrolet of Decatur. Then pursued a successful career at Coca-Cola Enterprises in sales. He later retired and focused his talents on real estate, buying and selling cars, and the stock market, which he enjoyed. He spent his leisure on Lake Lanier, the North Carolina mountains, and the Destin beaches.

Jay is survived by his two children, Katherine Bocock Hern and her husband Ryan Hern and Justin Reed Bocock and his fiance Ashley Smith; four grandchildren, Hunter, Jordyn, Summer, and Grayson.

Jay survived three sisters: Peggy, Susan, and Mary. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Euel Edmond Bocock and wife Lola Bocock, father James Reed Bocock and survived by mother Joan Cathcart Bocock.

Jay was a cherished husband, beloved father, devoted grandfather and exceptional friend to many. His greatest ambition was caring for others! He was a talented storyteller but also an excellent listener.
He could earn anyone's trust and could set the most reserved at ease. He always found the right words during troubling times. He was a "life-coach", a mentor, and best friend to his children.

He was the first person to show up in emergencies and the last one talking during social gatherings. He was deeply devoted to his friends and family, their "rock"!
His greatest success in life is the example he set for how to love unconditionally and be generous with no strings attached.

To further honor Jay, help us remember and laugh our way through the tears.
He loved to laugh!
