Obituary for Mae Della Owen

Mae Della Smith Owen, 93, of Clarkston, beloved wife and mother, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018. Born July 13, 1924 in Camp Hill, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Lessie Lee Miller Smith.

Mae is survived by her son, Randy McGill and his life partner, Sandra; stepsons, David Owen and his wife, Tracie, of Lillian, Alabama, Gary Owen and his wife, Karen, of Tucker, Georgia, and Ron Owen and his wife, Amy, of Johns Creek, Georgia; step-granddaughters, Jessica McCaulla of Cumming, Georgia, Audrey Menhorn of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Caroline Owen of Athens, Georgia, Nichole Owen of Rome, Georgia, and Anna Owen and Emma Owen of Johns Creek, Georgia; 6 step great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Leroy and his wife, Mary Louise; sister, Mary Lou Webster; sisters-in-law, Jessie and Clara Smith; and many more loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Ogden McGill; her second husband, Donald Franklin Owen; sisters, Gladys Webb and Vivian Smith Miller; brothers, Percy Smith, Frank Smith, Maple Smith, Georgie Smith, Joe D. Smith, Tommy Dykes Smith, and Johnny Smith.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 5 at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 6, in the Chapel of A.S. Turners with Pastor Doug Drucker officiating. Interment will follow at Decatur Cemetery.
