Rudene Turner

April 18, 1946 — June 22, 2018

Rudene Chester Turner was born April 18, 1946 in Morgan County, Madison Georgia to the late Tommie Chester and Amy Perkins Chester who preceded her in death.
She grew up in Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church where she was very active, singing in the choir, ushering, teaching Sunday School, and being involved in the Children’s ministry. She attended Pearl High School and graduated in 1963.
She moved to Atlanta and became a member of the Union Baptist Church where she continued to serve the Lord and later united with Spirit and Truth Sanctuary (formerly Cathedral of the Holy Spirit).
Her greatest attributes were; her love and service to God, her family and others. She loved vacations, exercising, listening to music and shopping. She had a sense of humor and it was always a pleasure to be in her presence.
She received her degree from Blayton Business College, where she met the love of her life, Robert Turner. She made a major impact in the insurance industry in underwriting. While in the workforce, she was employed with Continental, Chubb, and Kemper Insurance Companies. She was so astute that she could apply for a job on her lunch break, have the interview and get hired the same day. Not only was she passionate about her own career and success, but was very passionate about helping others achieve success and employment.
Rudene and Robert were married June 21, 1969. She has left many people behind to cherish her memory, among them are her beloved and devoted husband Robert Turner of Decatur, Ga., two beautiful daughters, Valerie Turner of Riverview, Fl. and Erica Turner of Decatur, Ga., one brother Calvin Chester (wife Jacqueline) of Madison, Ga. as well as five sisters, Yvonne Colquitt, Eleanor Chester, Gloria Fountain (husband David), of Atlanta, Ga. Annette Adams of Marietta, Ga. Gladioli Williams (husband John ) of Decatur, Ga. and a sister, Lillian Simon who preceded her in death. She also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
Rudene and Robert celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary June 21, 2018.
Rudene finished her course on June 22, 2018 and is now with that Cloud of Witnesses, cheering us on to finish our race. Once we finish this race, there is a crown laid up for us, Amen, Amen, Amen!
