Walter Cameron Conrad

Walter Cameron Conrad, 88, formerly of Pensacola, FL died Monday, September 4, 2017. "Sonny" or 'Satch" was born October 17, 1928 in Richmond, VA. He attended Plant High School in Tampa, FL. After serving in the Navy, he graduated from Florida State University where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

He eventually settled in Pensacola where he worked for Escambia County, FL as a Tax Assessor until his retirement. Those who loved him will remember Sonny's scratchy voice and scrappy disposition, his love of family, fishing, Miller Lite, and the Seminoles.

He was considered one of the best uncles in history! He is survived by his sister, Mary Emma Womack, of Mocksville, NC; brother, Donald W. Conrad, Sr. of Atlanta, GA; nieces, Nancy Newton (Jim), Lynn Wright (Charles), all of Atlanta, GA, Sally Strohacker (Kim), of Advance, NC; nephews, Donald Conrad, Jr. (Allison) of Atlanta, GA, John William "Billy" Womack (Cathy) of New Bern, NC; nine great nieces and nephews, and his dear friend Gaye Metzer. A private family service will be scheduled at a later date.
