Obituary for Wiley Douglas "Doug" Welsh

Wiley Douglas Welsh passed away on Saturday morning May 20, 2017. Doug, as known by his friends, was born on October 11, 1954 in Atlanta, GA. Doug was a true lover and a fighter, fighting constantly to survive two bouts with cancer and a severe heart condition while passionately pursuing his love of God, family, baseball and growing the world’s hottest peppers. His accomplishments include published poetry, completing a bible read through three times, coaching thousands of youth baseball games, plotting hundreds of ridiculous practical jokes, finding a beautiful woman, who is the mother of his children and becoming a uniquely caring father. Doug is survived by his sons; Robert and Andrew, his father; Robert Dewey Welsh, his sister; Debby Logan, his granddaughter; Abigail and many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at A. S. Turner & Sons Chapel. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home
