Lillouise Green Nelson, born in Decatur, GA, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026 at the age of 101. Pursuit of knowledge was key to her life. Graduating from Emory University in 1964, she later continued her educaton attending Parsons School of Design in New York and Southern Tech in Marietta.
Lillouise volunteered at the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex, assisting with computer courses and she was a docent for the Michael C. Carlos Museun for a number of years. She loved art history and reading, especially the Epic of Gilgamesh. As a child she was taught violin and piano by her mother, Lillouise Green and her aunt Sara Croft Carter, both of whom gave concerts through out the Southeast.
As the family matriarch and historian, she talked with cousins scattered all over the country; her love for her family was deep and unwavering. Holidays were joyous times filled with family and friends. She had an irresistable smile that stretched from ear to ear with eyes that twinkled.
Lillouise married David Nelson and they celebrated 74 years of marriage. She helped David with his company while maintaining a home and rising a family. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Huguenot Society of Georgia, NHS and the Corpus Corolis Auream.
She is proceded in death by her brother William Paul Green and husband David Nelson. Survivng are daughter Lynda Bush (Mark), sister Sally Green Tucker, nieces Terry Roberts (Mike), Pam Allen (Stan), Nephew David Tucker and many grand nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested a donation be made to the Winship Cancer Institue at Emory University.
