Carol Jean Barrow

February 15, 1929 — September 18, 2018

Carol Jean Barrow, 89, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Born in Reynolds, Georgia, on February 15, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Thomas Barrow and Leila Hobbs Barrow. She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1946 and attended La Grange College for 2 years and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She worked with the Herman Talmadge Campaign in 1950 before beginning her life long career with the Sate Welfare Department, retiring in 1982.

Carol enjoyed playing bridge and going to Reynolds to work in her yard. She was active in First Baptist Church of Atlanta for years and later joined Peachtree Baptist Church. She was a member of the Lidia Sunday School Class and thought of the members as her family.
She loved genealogy and researching families and spent many years researching her family tree and the relatives of Barrow, Arringtons, Hobbs, and Underwoods. Her census books can be found in Georgia libraries. She corresponded with many families over the years. Mrs. Mae Belle North of North Carolina and Franklin Barrow of North Carolina kept letters going for many years. They were cousins in Middle Georgia.

She is survived by her sister, Constance Ruth Barrow Krueger of Oconomowoc, WI; and more loving friends.
