Andrew Michael Suligoy

February 3, 1966 — March 2, 2020

Andy M. Suligoy, 54, of Druid Hills, GA passed away on March 2nd, 2020. He was born to Andrew L. and Linda Suligoy on February 3rd, 1966 in Joliet IL. Andy received a degree in nursing at Parkland College in Champaign, IL. However, the pull of the South, nurtured by his love of the book, Gone With the Wind resulted in a move to Atlanta in 1993 to work at Ridgeview Institute. He specialized in Behavioral Health.
Andy enjoyed life and especially the people who filled his life. He loved helping them to find joy and amusement in everyday happenings. He continued to nurture his childhood delight in Doberman Pinschers by owning three as pets. He had a passion for music often proven in his skill at the piano and especially playing the works of Chopin. He seized opportunities to prepare and sample complex epicurean delights.
Andy fought back from the effects of sepsis which left him paralyzed. Told that he would never walk again. However, his determination and the support of The Shepherd Center therapists who helped him to once again be able to walk independently.
Andy is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Kevin Hunt. He is survived by his husband, Jack Nickles, his parents, Andrew and Linda Suligoy, his sisters Andrea Hunt and Tracy Day, his niece, Emerald Day and his nephews, James Day, Jack Hunt and J.P. Hunt.
Viewing and visitation with the family will occur on Sunday, March 8th starting at 12:30pm in the Cannon Chapel on the Emory University Campus. A service to celebrate his life immediately follows beginning at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus, www.ildoberescue.com. A.S.
