Barbara Rice Barnett

Barbara Rice Barnett passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015. She was born October 16, 1931, in Commerce, Georgia, to Arthur and Mae Lord Rice.Barbara graduated from Commerce High School in 1949 and began work at Harper's Five and Dime. In 1953, she moved to Atlanta and began work at Trust Company Bank. She continued at Trust Company until 1965.Barbara married Thomas Wilburn Barnett July 21, 1957, in Commerce. They joined Valley Brook Baptist Church in February 1977 and became very active in the church.Mrs. Barnett is survived by her husband and son, John Arthur Barnett, and John's wife Kathie, a brother and his wife, Jerry and Judy Rice, and a sister and her husband, Gail and Hoyt Stowe. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sylvia Threatt.The family will receive visitors Monday, May 25, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at A.S. Turner and Sons, 2773 N Decatur Rd, Decatur, Ga.The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 26, at 11:00 am at Valley Brook Baptist Church, 1198 N Valley Brook Rd, Decatur, Ga. Burial will be Tuesday, May 26, at 3:00 p.m. at Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce, Ga.
