Bernie Norris Granger

Bernie Norris Granger passed away peacefully on March 5, 2011. She lived an extraordinary life of almost 98 years as she outlived her twelve brothers and sisters, and she was one of the three sets of twins in her family. Bernie was the daughter of Bernie and Henry Norris of Emanuel County where she was born on April 6, 1913. She graduated from high school in Augusta, GA and then moved to Atlanta to pursue a secretarial course. Later she married Warren Howard Granger, and they made their home in Decatur for over sixty years. They were longtime members of Columbia Presbyterian Church and were active in the community. Bernie is survived by one son, Gary E. Granger and his wife Beth of Berkeley Lake, GA, Granddaughter, Elizabeth Granger Bryant and husband Travis of Dallas, TX; Granddaughter, Julia Granger Jessee and husband Daniel of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 9, at Decatur City Cemetery.
