Betty Jane Norrell Barton

Betty Jane Norrell Barton, 81, of Decatur, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Born November 19, 1934, in Guntersville, AL, she was the daughter of the late Robert Glenn Norrell, Sr. and Josie Lee Smith Norrell. Betty Jane spent 28 years with DeKalb County as the benefits administrator. She loved her church and was always helping people.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Barton Engstrom and her husband, Eric, Sr., of Fort Bragg, NC, and Laura Jo Barton Johnson, of Marietta; grandchildren, Zachary and Chloe Johnson, both of Marietta; step grandchildren, Eric, II, Krystl, and Linnea Engstrom, of Wichita, KS; brother, Lee "Skip" Norrell, of Kingsport, TN; and many more loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Henry Grady Barton; and brothers, Robert and Dugan Norrell.

The family will receive friends from 1 - 3 p.m. and from 6 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons with Pastor Nathan Hilkert officiating. A graveside service will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA.
