Betty Jo Fallis

Betty Perry Fallis, of Tucker, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 26, from complications following surgery.  Mrs. Fallis was born to Greer Perry and Della Croft Perry in Crested Butte, Colorado. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, earned a Bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas), and obtained a Master’s degree in Library Science from the George Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt University. Over a career spanning more than four decades, Mrs. Fallis served as Librarian/Media Center Coordinator at Dollarway High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Butterfield Trail Elementary School in Fayetteville, Arkansas; Richards Junior High School in Columbus, Georgia; Norcross (Georgia) Elementary School; and Beaver Ridge Elementary School in Norcross. She also served for one year as an Instructor of Library Science at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Mrs. Fallis was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma national teachers’ sorority for more than 30 years, most recently as a member of the Alpha Rho chapter. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Lynn Fallis, of Tucker; her son, Charles Perry Fallis (Partner-Robert Stephen Matthews) of Atlanta; and her beloved little dog, Felix. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 28, from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at A.S. Turner and Sons Mortuary, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia. A second viewing will be held on Friday, October 30, from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home, 510 East College Ave., Batesville, Arkansas. Services will be held on Saturday, October 31, at 2:00 p.m. at Roller-Crouch Funeral Chapel in Batesville, with burial to follow at Charlotte Cemetery in Charlotte, Arkansas.
