Betty Virginia Huntsinger

Betty V Huntsinger, age 90 of Decatur, GA. passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 14, 2019 after a short term illness. She was born on August 24, 1928 in Woodland, AL. She was the daughter of the late Jodie and Ophelia Parmer who were cotton farmers. At the age of 41 her mother passed away after giving birth to twins; Bobby and Billy Parmer who passed away 16 days later. She and her older siblings took care of the younger ones in addition to going to school and working the farm. She moved to Atlanta, GA. at a young age where employments included Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta where she worked in the nursery taking care of newborns and Scottdale Mill in Scottdale, GA. for many years. She enjoyed making floral arrangements for the graves of deceased family, taking care of her yard, watching TV (especially Andy Griffith and The Golden Girls) and spending time with family. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She is survived by 2 daughters, Reta & Jack Dodd of Lithia Springs, GA.; Tracy & David Higgs of Brunswick, GA.; Grandchildren, Danny Dodd of Lawrenceville, GA., Sasha & Tyler Higgs of Brunswick, GA., Alyssa Chastain of Knoxville, TN., Rusty, Angela, Christine, Patty & Cathy.; Unknown number of Great-Grandchildren which include Jared & Alexandra Dodd of Duluth, GA. and Taylor Chastain of Jupiter, FL. In addition to her parents and 2 baby brothers she was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Huntsinger; 4 children, Russell Mize of Duluth, GA., David (Sam) Mize of Decatur, GA., Anita Fuller of Enterprise, AL. and Gail Smith of Summerville, GA.; 1 granddaughter, Donna Mize.; 3 brothers, Clarence Parmer, Clyde Parmer, Floyd (Pete) Parmer; 5 sisters, Tomie Lou Bone, Gladys Pilgrim, Evelyn Smith, Marvoline Sellers and Runell Sammons.
