Caneta P. Hall

December 26, 1929 — February 19, 2020

Caneta Philpot Hall was born December 26, 1929, in Lebanon, Tennessee, to Orris Everett and Beulah Philpot. She attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee, where she met her husband, Sewell Hall. Married in 1950, she faithfully supported him in his preaching work, living in five states and two foreign countries. In addition, they traveled extensively, preaching in this country and Europe. They were living in Atlanta when she passed away on February 19, 2020.

She is survived by Sewell, her husband of 69 years, her children, Cherry (John) Trimble, Gardner (Beverly) Hall, Holly (Larry) Cabina, Rose (Barry) Caudill, and Sara (Danny) Haynes; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Those are the statistics but not the story.

Caneta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sewell was the preacher but Caneta was always asking those she met about their spiritual condition, inviting them to church services, and challenging them to consider their relationship with God. She was proud to be a wife and homemaker and her hospitality was experienced by countless guests over the years. She had a delightful sense of humor and as her family gathered to share her final hours, many anecdotes and humorous stories were shared - but so were hymns, prayers, and scripture. Her favorite hymn, “When We All Get to Heaven,” reflected her deep desire not only for her physical family but also for all those around her.
