Catherine Cook

April 11, 1944 — August 26, 2021

Catherine "Cathy" Cook, 77 of Decatur, GA passed away on August 26th at her home after struggling many years with diabetes. Cathy was born in Elberton, GA to B.E. and Sally Craft on August 11, 1944, the youngest of 9 children. She graduated from Elbert County High School in 1962 and moved to the Atlanta area after graduation to begin her life as a young adult. Throughout the years Cathy was an extremely hard working and kind woman. She retired from Marshalls Distribution Center where she made lifelong friends. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help others. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch and spending time with her family, friends and neighbors. She belonged to several bowling leagues throughout the years that brought her so much joy and happiness. She absolutely loved her family and was so proud of them. She never hesitated to help those in need or drop off a gift of appreciation to a fellow neighbor. She belonged to Passion City Church in Atlanta and greatly missed being able to attend church in person this past year and a half.

Cathy is survived by her daughter, Kim Scarbrough (Steve) and her son, James "Mike" Cook; her grandchildren, Leslie Bernardon (Jonathan) and Ethan Cook; great-grandchildren, Madelynn, Annabella and Noah Bernardon; daughter-in-law, Emily Cook; sisters, Sue Bowers, Betty Brawner, and Peggy Gaines; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins; and last but not least her three beloved dogs, Cheyenne, Sassy, and Sugar. She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Cook; her parents, B.E. and Sally Craft; her siblings, Thomas Craft, Marvin Craft, Frances Adams, Donnie Craft, and Little B.E. Craft.

No memorial is planned at this time for everyone's safety and wellbeing, but the family does ask for your prayers during this difficult time. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) or to Dekalb County Animal Services (dekalbanimalservices.com/donate).
