Charles Russell Lee

Charles Russell Lee, a life long resident of Atlanta, passed away quietly on Monday June 6, 2016 at the age of 96. He was born in Atlanta on September 30, 1919, the 2nd son of the late Charles Carsby Lee and Corintha Ann Hall Lee. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, the former Dorothy Philena Shannon, and their first son, Charles Edward Lee. He is survived by 4 children: Robert Stephen Lee (Marty), of Aiken, SC; Paul Thomas Lee, Tucker, GA; Karen Lee Greer (Mike), Decatur, GA; Nancy Lee Jones (Brad), Atlanta, GA; 7 grandchildren: Sean Michael Lee, Oakland, CA; Jeanne Michelle Lee Goldie (John), Panama City,. FL; Matthew Russell Lee (Malisa), Tucker, GA; Laura Greer Alvarez, (Austin), Atlanta, GA; Patrick Floyd Greer, Atlanta, GA; Rachel Dorothy Jones, Tucker, GA; and Brian Christopher Jones, Atlanta, GA and 3 great grandchildren: Nathan Russell Lee, Tucker, GA, Talmage Joseph Lee, Tucker, GA; and Olivia Lee Goldie, Panama City, FL. Funeral service at A S Turner & Sons, Decatur, GA, on Tuesday, June 14, at 11:00 am followed by graveside service at Crest Lawn Memorial Park, Atlanta, at 1:00 pm. Visitation Monday, June 13, at Turners from 6 to 8 pm.

Charles R. Lee was a graduate of Boys High School and Atlanta Law School, both in Atlanta. He served in the US Navy before WWII and in the Army Air Force during WWII. He retired from Southern Bell after more than 40 years as a Testdeskman. He was a Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers, a Volunteer Leader with the Boy Scouts, a Charter Member of Clairmont Presbyterian Church and an active member in the Boys High Alumni Association. He lived a full and productive life and will be missed by friends and family.
