Mrs. Clara Pugh Vining, 86, of Decatur, GA died peacefully on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. She was born in Buford, GA on December 31, 1923 to Ezra & Delphia Pugh, Sr. She graduated from Buford High School in 1943 where she was valedictorian of her class. Mrs. Vining was an active member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church for 54 years. She was an avid gardener and, if you had ever tasted one of her pound cakes, you would know that she loved to cook. Mrs. Vining had a special gift for hospitality and she touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delphia & Ezra Pugh, Sr., brothers, Paul & Ezra Pugh, Jr.; sisters, Kathryn Lavelle and Vivian Thornton. Mrs. Vining is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Carl Vining; daughter, Susan Vining Bell and her husband Gordon of Raleigh, NC; her son, John Vining and his wife, Nancy of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Julia Bell Young and her husband, Johnny of Raleigh, NC, Dan Bell and his wife, Jennifer, of Fuguay-Varina, NC, Leah Vining and Dustin John Vining of Woodstock, GA; great-grandchild, Caleb Bell of Louisburg, NC; sisters, Betty Buice and her husband J.T. of Buford, GA, Edna Pucket of Buford, GA; sister-in-law, Willie Pugh of Buford, GA. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 20, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Larry T. Burgess and Rev. Fred Pitts officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
