Clark E. Myers, DCS Dean of Emory, Roberto C. Goizueta School of Business (1968 - 1975)Clark E. Myers, DCS, age 89, of Decatur GA died October 6, 2004 after a brief illness. Dr. Myers was born in Rossville Kansas on October 19, 1914. He earned BS and MBA degrees from the University of Kansas and doctorate degree from the Harvard Business School in 1956. He began his teaching career at the age of 16 in a one-room schoolhouse in Auburn Kansas where he taught from 1930 to1934 before enrolling at the University of Kansas. He served in the navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945, and served as a Lt JG on the USS Bright, a destroyer escort in the Pacific theater.      Dr. Myers began a long career in higher education as an Instructor at the University of Kansas, (1939-1941). At the University of Texas (Austin) Management Department, he was assistant professor (1947-1949), associate professor (1949-1953) and chairman (1950-1953). He was dean of the College of Commerce at Ohio University from 1954 to 1957, and was the founding director of the IMEDE, the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne Switzerland, ranked by the Wall Street Journal as the top international business school. He was dean of the School of Business Administration at the University of Miami (1961-1968) before coming to Emory University where he was dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration (now known as the Roberto C. Goizueta School of Business) from 1968 to 1975 and professor from 1975 to 1985. Dr. Myers was a member of the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business and president from 1970 to 1971. He co-edited the book "The Writings of the Gilbreths" in 1953.Dr. Myers is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cora Hepworth Myers, a son Clark E. Myers, Jr. of Seattle, and son Richard H. Myers, daughter-in-law Carol Anne Myers, and two grandchildren, Margaret Anne and Madelyn Claire of Newton Massachusetts. No services are planned.
