Clark Riegel Kjorlaug

Clark Riegel Kjorlaug of Greensboro, North Carolina (formerly of Decatur, Georgia) died on Saturday, January 14, 2012. He was born on June 21, 1917 to parents Mr. and Mrs. Melkeor U.S. Kjorlaug. He had a long, successful career in architecture after graduating from Rice University in 1944. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, certified in both Georgia and Texas. He had a distinguished career as a private architect and then an exemplary 30 year career with the Department of Health and Human Services. He was an active member of the Decatur community serving the Optimist and Rotary clubs, Decatur Presbyterian Church, and Boy Scout Troop 175. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melkeor and Ellen Kjorlaug, his wife of 62 years, Patricia Gastley Kjorlaug and his son, Christopher Clark Kjorlaug. He leaves behind his daughter, Suellen K. Milton and husband, Thomas H. Milton of Greensboro NC; son, James Patrick Kjorlaug and wife, Alesia Kjorlaug of Paragould AR; daughter-in-law, Linda Kjorlaug of Alpharetta GA; grandchildren, Tricia Milton Shaw and husband, William Douglas Shaw, Jr. of Greensboro NC, Riegel Milton Vanore and husband, Andrew Paul Vanore of Greensboro NC, Andrew Coy Kjorlaug and wife, Priscilla Kjorlaug of Franklin MA, James Clark Kjorlaug of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Christopher Erik Kjorlaug of Paragould AR, Clark Riegel Kjorlaug II of Alpharetta GA, Daniel Crotts of Atlanta GA, and Stephen Crotts of Atlanta GA; great-grandchildren, Kristine, Thomas and Ben Shaw and Maria, Andrew and Lola Vanore and Jacob Crotts, sister, and Audrey Kjorlaug of Dickinson TX. He also leaves behind many cousins including Paul and Sandra Jones of Clinton MS. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Decatur Presbyterian Church, 205 Sycamore St., Decatur GA 30030. Graveside service will be 11:00 am Monday, January 16 at Decatur City Cemetery with Dr. Paul G. Jones officiating assisted by Andrew Coy Kjorlaug. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A. S.
