Collette M. Miller

March 6, 1923 — June 23, 2005

Mrs. Colette M. Miller, age 82, of Decatur died Thursday, June 23, 2005. Colette Marie Conlon was born in Pawtucket, RI, March 6, 1923, the fifth of seven children born to William P. Conlon and Alice Warnock Conlon. She grew up in Boston, MA and married the love of her life, Earl R. Miller September 16, 1950. They had two children, Patricia and Richard and the family moved to Decatur in 1962. Colette and Earl had a long and happy marriage until his death in August, 1983. Colette attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur for 43 years. She had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and said a rosary novena nightly. She loved big band music, playing bridge and bingo, and watching the Braves. She was kind and thoughtful and volunteered at her church and at Clairmont Oaks, where she lived for the last ten years of her life. She never drove, but was a great back seat driver. She loved to laugh and drink a few beers. Colette and her sister, Alicia would crack each other up and laugh until the tears ran down their faces. She loved to travel and spent April in Australia visiting her son's family. She never lost her Boston accent. Her clothes were beautiful and she was always perfectly groomed. Long ago, Colette requested to be buried in the beautiful red velvet dress Earl bought her in 1949, when she was 26 years old. Thanks for being our Mom, we will love you forever.
