Cynthia Noel Younker

May 6, 1952 — September 2, 2008

The family announces the passing of Cynthia Noel Younker, 56, beloved daughter of Corinne T. Younker, treasured sister of Deborah and Dirk Younker, cherished niece of Robert J. and Marilyn J. Anders, on 2 September 2008, following a lengthy illness. She departed this life in the manner in which she had lived it---with courage, generosity and dignity. She is preceded in death by her father, Milton J. Younker, her uncle, Bruce H. Younker and her grandmother, Della Trimble. Ms. Younker was employed for many years as an accountant by Georgia State University, from which she retired in 1998. Although suffering from debilitating disease, she remained engaged as a volunteer in many charitable endeavors, most particularly those involving animal rights. She was also an active, longstanding member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church in Snellville, Georgia. Survivors include her cousins Nancy J. Anders of Hebron, IN and Herbert J. Anders of Houston, TX; cousins Carole, Craig and Douglas Golke of Chicago, IL; and her championship Labrador retriever, Sophie. She had lived her life with such loving kindness that her extended family of friends far outnumber her immediate relations, and each of these individuals will be forever enshrined in our hearts. Pastor Deanne Lynch will conduct a memorial service for Ms. Younker on 14 September 2008, 3:30 PM at A. S. Turner & Sons, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur GA 30033. After the service, the family will greet those who attend in the reception rooms immediately adjacent to the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a no-kill animal shelter of the giver's choice. A. S. Turner & Sons
