David Lee Nickerson

September 13, 1950 — March 30, 2020

David Lee Nickerson, 69, of Avondale Estates, GA, passed away March 30, 2020. He was born in Port Jefferson, NY, to Roy Nickerson and Mildred J. Erway. David graduated from Foothill High School in 1968 in the city of Santa Ana, California. As a teenager, he loved working on cars and rebuilding engines. He owned a 1968 Z28 Camaro and loved racing cars and Motocross.

After high school, he began his career as a carpenter and learned every aspect of becoming a master builder. As a general contractor he built many homes in the Los Angeles beach communities. He owned Paydirt Grading before retiring in 2012. His final project was building his own home in Avondale Estates, Georgia.

He met the love of his life, Mary Galpin, whom he married in 1994 and together they became a wonderful blended family. More than anything, David’s faith in God was his guiding light. David enjoyed Bible study, music, tennis, bike riding, travel, and carpentry.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Nickerson and Mildred Nickerson.

Mr. Nickerson is survived by his wife: Mary E. Galpin; sons: Jared C. Nickerson , Daniel A. Galpin and wife Mackenzie Davenport, Kevin M. Galpin and wife Carrie Diercks; daughter: Juliette E. Galpin; grandchildren: Jack Galpin, Kaiden Galpin, Noah Galpin, and Aria Galpin; Sisters and Brothers Beverly and Al Fink, Gary and Lynne Cutlip, Egil and Patty Bachwiig, Gloria and Keith Preston, Frank and Diane Gould, Thomas and Arlene Bachwiig, and a host of extended family and friends.
