Delaine Durdin Perkins

Delaine Durdin Perkins graduated to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 25th. Born on May 1,1930, she is predeceased by her parents, Sarah Street Durdin and Rosser park Durdin, her husband James Morris Perkins, M.D. A life long Decatur girl, she graduated from Decatur Girls High school and went on to the University of Georgia. While There, she majored in Accounting and pledged Pi Phi sorority.

In 1952, she married the love of her life, Dr James Morris Perkins and they had a storybook marriage, traveling the world. Avid boaters, they belonged to the Atlanta Yacht Club and the Pay Point Yacht Club in Panama City, Florida, where they had a second home. She loved nothing better than walking the beach on Shell Island, collecting shells with her French
Poodles.

They were members of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, for close to 50 years a where she sang in the choir and helped start the children’s Bell Choir. Delaine was a member of the Seekers class, Friendship circle and the Genealogy Class. She was a model of Christian womanhood who typifies the Proverbs 31 wife.

She served as past President of Atlanta Chapter 18 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, The Joseph Habersham chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Bay Point Yacht Club. An avid Gardner and lover of flowers, she was a member of the Breckenridge Garden Arts I and I.

She is survived by her daughter and son- in -law, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Alan Kurland (Penny), Grandsons, Dr. and Mrs. Ross Alan Kurland, Jr. (McCall) James Albert Kurland (Jake), Great- Granddaughter, Nora McCall Kurland, Sister-in-law Betty Ann Archer, and numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews and Great- great Nieces and Nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 28th at A. S. Turner Funeral home, 2773 North Decatur Rd., Decatur, Ga., 30033, with visitation preceding the services beginning at 12:30. A graveside service will be at Decatur Cemetery following the services.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1722 Oak Grove Road, Decatur, Ga., 30033-1299.
