Diane Hood Overton

Diane Lynn Overton, 41, of Helen, GA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 of a pulmonary embolism. She was born on February 8, 1966 in Newton Falls, OH. She graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1984, then attended Allegheny College and subsequently graduated from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, OH Magna Cum Laude. She later earned her Masters in Education from Piedmont College in Demorest, GA. Diane met her husband Will Overton on May 27, 1992 in Atlanta and they married three years to the date later on May 27, 1995. She had a true passion for teaching and spending time with her students both inside and outside the classroom, where she was involved in activities such as the Lego League. She had taught school for over a decade in the Gwinnett County School System, with her most recent three years at Osborne Middle School in Hoschton, GA. Diane also had a love of the north Georgia Mountains where she and Will shared the last two years in their dream cabin with their two miniature pinschers Harley & Indy (the "boys"). She is survived by her husband, William Julian Overton, Jr.; parents, Roger and Judy Hood of Newton Falls; brother, David (Dawn) Hood; niece, Joe'l of Newton Falls; and sister, Debra (Stewart) Sutherland of North Jackson, Ohio. Friends and family may call from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. March 10, 2007 and funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. March 11, 2007 at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, GA In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Osborne Middle School Media Center, 4404 Braselton Highway (Hwy. 124), Hoschton, GA  30548.  A. S.
