Donald Everett (Don) Bailey

Donald Everett "Don" Bailey, 76, of Flowery Branch, died October 7, 2012. He was raised in the Atlanta area and graduated from Avondale High School. Don was a 1962 graduate of Georgia State, and worked for several mortgage companies. He later became a mortgage banker and in 1974 joined with Ted LaVallee to form S&L Mortgage Corp. He and Ted sold the business in 1988. Shortly afterwards, Don retired and moved to his farm in Flowery Branch. He was a former member of Northlake Rotary Club and the Decatur Elks. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Marguerite Mitchell Bailey and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Amy Bailey of Atlanta; son, Blaine Bailey of Flowery Branch; five grandchildren. Mr. Bailey was cremated and a memorial service will be held 1 PM, Friday, October 12, in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Fred Pitts officiating. Memorial contributions in honor of Don Bailey may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends 6-8 Thursday evening at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
