Donna Marie Arena

Donna Marie Arena, 57, passed away peacefully among family and friends at Dekalb Medical Center on Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Donna was born in Hackensack, NJ on May 17, 1953 and was the daughter of Louis and Grace Kajor of Wood-Ridge, NJ. Donna was an avid learner; graduating from the St. Francis School of Nursing in Jersey City, NJ, as well as Suny College of Technology in Utica, NY, earning a B.S. degree in Vocational Technical Education and Nursing. She continued her education at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, where she completed her M.S. degree in both Nursing and Medical/Surgical Clinical Specialist Nursing. Lastly, Donna went on to complete her Ph.D. in Family Nursing at Georgia State University. Most recently, Donna utilized her education, compassion and knowledge as a Palliative Care Nurse in Patient Care Services at DeKalb Medical, where she made lasting relationships through the kisses and hugs she freely shared with patients and coworkers. Outside of work, Donna enjoyed traveling, reading, long naps, taking her dog, Calvin, to the park and spending time with family and friends. Her quick wit and dry sense of humor will be missed by all. She is survived by her son, Evan Arena, her sister Susan Liberti-Pine, her brother Robert Kajor, and her mother Grace Kajor. She also leaves behind her nephews, Brad Liberti and Eric Kajor and her nieces, Alexa Liberti and Hannah Kajor, as well as many wonderful and loving friends. Donna is predeceased by her father, Louis Kajor, who passed away in October, 2003. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 8, 2010 at 1 p.m. at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home located at 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia 30033, followed by a memorial service at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home’s chapel at 2 p.m.
