Dorothy Anne Woods

March 26, 1922 — January 9, 2008

Dorothy Anne Woods, 85, died Wednesday,

January 9, 2008. Born in Dekalb County,

Ms. Woods was the daughter of Menander

Jackson Woods and Sarah Anderson

Woods. A graduate of Girls High School

in Atlanta, Ms. Woods played trumpet

for the Georgia Girls Military Band.

After graduation, Ms. Woods was

employed by First National Bank of

Atlanta. In 1945 she became secretary at

Central Presbyterian Church,

where she served with dedication

until 1987. Ms. Woods was a member

of Central Presbyterian Church, where

she was a member of the Study Class, for

which she played piano each Sunday,

and formerly a member of the Chancel Choir

and Director of the children's choir.

Ms. Woods is survived by her brother,

William Jackson Woods of Aiken, S.C.

and dear friend, Brenda J. Spruell,

of Mableton, Georgia. Visitation will

take place from 3-5pm on Friday, January

11th at A.S. Turner & Sons in Decatur.  

Burial will take place on Saturday,

January 12th at 11am at East View Cemetery,

Atlanta.  A Memorial service will be held at 2pm

on Sunday, January 13th at Central Presbyterian Church, The Rev. Caroline M. Kelly and The Rev. Gary W. Charles officiating. A reception will

follow in Tull Fellowship Hall.
