Douglas Cozart Mcafee

Douglas C McAfee born May 20, 1941 Decatur, GA died June 1, 2021 Eatonton, GA at 80 years old preceded in death by parents Alexander H McAfee and Dorothy S McAfee and sister Marilyn M Womack and survived by sisters Sander M Ellis and Deborah P McAfee. Doug is also preceded in death by three wives Jeanne C McAfee, Dianne H McAfee and Nancy Griffin and survived by two sons, Edward H McAfee and David C McAfee and two stepdaughters Catherine C Mills and Kelly Pierce. Doug also had eight grandchildren Alexander H McAfee, Hunter N McAfee, Cumberland B McAfee, Olivia Hussey, Matthew Hussey, Sarah Hussey, Chelsea Pierce and Garrett Pierce and two great-grand children Axyl D McAfee and Oaklyn S McAfee.

Doug was involved in Boy Scouts all his life with achieving Eagle Scout, becoming Scoutmaster and Committee Chairman. He has established four generations of Eagle Scouts in his family and has given of his time and resources to the scouting program.

Doug’s faith was firmly planted at Decatur First United Methodist Church and he attended many Christian churches in the places he lived. He started an Emmaus Community at Lake Oconee, spent 100 weekends in prison working with inmates in the Kairos prison ministry and did mission work in Honduras for over 20 years.

Doug loved his family and cherished the times spent together. He will be missed.

Memorial Service honoring the life of Douglas C McAfee will be on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the Memorial Garden at Decatur First United Methodist Church at 300 Ponce De Leon Ave., Decatur, GA 30030.
