Dr. James Russell Flanders, Sr.

Dr. James Russell Flanders, Sr. was born in Eastman, GA on January 12, 1934. He went to be with the Lord September 14, 2012. He was the son of the late Lovett Hansel and Lizzie Ila Lowery Flanders of Warner Robins, GA. Dr. Flanders, a Doctor of Chiropratic, opened his clinic in Conyers, GA in 1963. He is a graduate of Warner Robins High School, attended the University of Georgia and is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic. He served in the US Navy for four years in Italy. Dr. Flanders closed his clinic and retired in December of 2008. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Sammon Flanders; sons, James Russell Flanders, Jr. and his wife, Vaun Deleath of Frisco, TX and son, Matthew Grady Flanders and his wife, Tiffany Christin; grandchildren, Tyler Ann Sutherland, Elaine Deleath Cook, Megan Renee Cook, James Russell Flanders III, Elizabeth Anntoinette Flanders, Matthew Hayden Flanders and Mitchell Cullen Flanders; sisters, Ila Louise Hilliard of Warwick, GA and Sofia Elizabeth Walker of Savannah, GA; and predeceased by his brothers, Charles Wilton Flanders, Raiford Timothy Flanders and Lovett Hansel Flanders, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, September 17, 2012, at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Pitts and Rev. Larry Burgess officiating. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Clairmont Hills Baptist Church, 1995 Clairmont Rd., Decatur, GA 30033. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
