Dr. William E. Avery, Jr.

Dr. William E. Avery, Jr., 94 years old of Decatur, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born in Decatur in 1917; he graduated from Atlanta Dental College in 1941 and, except for four years in the U. S. Army during World War II, he practiced dentistry in Decatur, GA for over 40 years prior to his retirement. He is survived by his children, William H. Avery, Phillip S. Avery, Jeffery A. Avery and Jan Avery Green; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and sister, Sue Bell, all of the Atlanta area. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 am at Decatur Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 10, White Plains, NY 10605. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
