Elizabeth L. Wellborn

April 20, 1926 — January 22, 2021

Sarah "Elizabeth" Lummus Wellborn, age 94 of Avondale Estates, Ga. passed away Friday January 22, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Cecil Dean Wellborn Jr.; parents Thomas Greer & Sallie Mae Nipper Lummus; brother, Thomas Greer Lummus Jr.

Mrs. Wellborn is survived by her 2 children, Carol W. Reimer, Avondale Estates, Ga., Curtis D. Wellborn Sr., & wife Beverly, Cumming, Ga; grandchildren, Curtis D. Wellborn Jr., wife Stephanie, Christopher D. Wellborn, Jeffrey S. Reimer & Richard T. Reimer, great-granddaughter, Claire MacKenzie Wellborn, sister in law, Sara B. Lummus, nephews, Tom & (Flor) Lummus III. & Richard Lummus; great niece Sara Lummus.

She was born on April 20, 1926 in Atlanta, Ga. She attended North Fulton High School then began her 1st job with "The Atlanta Journal News Room" as an assistant to the Editor, then Bookkeeper at T&B Builders in Decatur, Ga. followed by her extended career as Office Manager of Loden Enterprises for the next 45 years, retiring at the young age of 85.

She was known & loved by everyone there as "Lucy". She prided herself on a strong, dedicated work ethic, mastering bookkeeping & management skills throughout her career along with raising a family. She was a "Master Level" Bridge Player & known for her famous "Grand Slam". Elizabeth was Member of Avondale Woman’s Club and Garden Club for many years. She & husband Cecil, were Founding Members of Avondale First Baptist Church, where they taught many young teens in Sunday School & Training Union. They were both said to be the perfect matchmakers for many couples who are married today & always opened up their home to Host many Bridal & Baby Showers for Family & Friends.

A Graveside Service for Family & Friends will be held at
11:00 am Friday, January 29, 2021
