Elizabeth Margolius Fielder

Mrs. Fielder loved animals and was a lifetime advocate of animal rights. She was a charter member of PETA and contributed to their cause for over 25 years. She supported many animal charities, as well as humanitarian charities. Her backyard was a haven for wildlife. She loved to watch the birds and other wildlife from every room of her home, especially through the patio door of her family room. She was a benevolent and gracious person. With a degree in French, it was only within the last few years that she got the dream of her lifetime to go to Paris, France. She made two trips to Paris over a few years and was an adventurous traveler. She was an avid reader for most of her life, spoke several languages, and was a pianist. Mrs. Fielder was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel C. Fielder, in October 2002. Dr. Fielder was a professor with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology for over 50 years and was one of the School's earliest pioneers. Her estate was left to Georgia Tech in his memory and is designated to the school for faculty support in his name. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28^th at 11:00 A.M. at Peachtree Christian Church, 1580 Peachtree St., Atlanta, GA  30309.  Rev. Bob Tyler will officiate.  Mrs. Fielder’s cremains will be interred at the Church Columbarium at the end of the service,  with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Mrs. Mildred E. Fielder can be made to the Atlanta Humane Society, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, or PETA.
