Ewell J. Holley

Mr. Ewell J. Holley, age 88, of Scottdale died Thursday, June 28, 2007.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruby Holley.  He is survived by his daughter, Renea Holley of Scottdale; sisters, Marie Hicks, and Bea Arnold, both of Scottdale; brother, Allen Holley of Stone Mountain; brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Carolyn Holley of Winder; and several nieces and nephews.  He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran with tours of duty in Italy and North Africa, a mason, an avid gardener and fisherman. Mr. Holley retired from DeKalb County and from his own business, where he was a talented blacksmith and welder, creating many functional pieces and original works of art. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 1st in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons.  Rev. David Wheeler and Rev. Josh Arnold will officiate.  Interment, Prospect Cemetery in Chamblee.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Saturday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
