Fausto Julian Urrutia

Fausto Julian Urrutia, age 71, passed away at his home in Decatur, GA on Friday, January 8th, 2016. He was born on January 9th, 1943 in Havana, Cuba. Fausto came to the United States in 1957 at 14 years of age to attend an all boy boarding school in Cullman, Alabama. He graduated from St. Bernard College in 1965 with an accounting degree. He began his career with Valley Vending in Decatur, Alabama. Valley vending became Servamation and Fausto stayed on board there becoming the company's comptroller. The company then became Service America and Fausto was transferred to Atlanta, GA in 1979. He continued his career at Service America becoming the zone president and left to start his own business, JFK Enterprises with partner Jesus Diaz in 1990. The legacy of JFK Enterprises still thrives today after 26 years. Fausto's interests included football, football and more football. He was a die-hard Alabama fan and forever bleeding crimson. Fausto was a great husband and father and a good friend to all who knew him (never forgetting a birthday or anniversary). He had an uncanny way of relating to people. From the sheriffs in the correctional facilities, to his business acquaintances, to his granddaughters; he found a way to relate to each of them on an individual level. He liked to have fun. He was funny and liked to make people laugh. He is survived by his wife Eyvette Hardeman Urrutia, daughter, Melissa Walker, sons, Vincent Urrutia and Patrick Urrutia and three granddaughters, Zoe Walker, Sierra Urrutia and Piper Urrutia. Family, friends, and others whose lives Fausto touched are invited to A.S. Turner & Sons funeral home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033 from 2pm-5pm on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 for a chapel service and a celebration of life memorial. The Urrutia family would like to extend our gratitude to the A.S. Turner staff for their attentiveness and loving care during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Fausto's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
