Frances Fortune Breitenbucher was the only child of Rev. Frank V. D. Fortune and Frances Phillips Fortune. She was born September 21, 1936 in Defiance, Ohio. Her father and mother predeceased her, as well as her husband of over 30 years, Phillip Breitenbucher. Frances was educated at Hollins College (now University) in Roanoke, Virginia, and received a Masters Degree in library science from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN. She received a Ph.D. in logic from Georgia State University. She was also a student at Washington University in St. Louis and University of South Carolina, taking courses of interest, and studied abroad for a period of 3 months. She was a life long member of the Episcopal Church. She worked as a librarian at Emory University and had a special interest in students at the graduate level and worked as a research librarian at the State Department of Georgia, public library unit and Vanderbilt Medical library. In addition she worked at the Hollins College library and the St. Louis public libraries and retired from the Fulton County library system. Interment was at Atlanta's Oakland Cemetery in the family plot, with graveside services. Her beloved dog "Baby", who predeceased her, was cremated and buried with her.
