Frances Kathleen Walton, 89, a longtime resident of Decatur died Saturday, December 20, 2008. Frances was born on Friday, March 28, 1919 in Savannah, GA, the daughter of the late Hugh G. Walton, Sr. and Selma K. Walton. The family moved to the Atlanta area and Frances grew up in Kirkwood and attended Commercial High. During World War II she worked at the Conley Depot and later at Crum and Foster Insurance Co. She retired from the Georgia State Health Department in 1978, after 33 years of dedicated service. Frances was a resident of Clairmont Oaks in Decatur for 25 years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Surviving are her sister, Mary Louise “BeBe” Davis of Alpharetta; brother and sister-in-law, James H. and Mamie Walton of Lilburn; nephew, James M. Walton and other nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon December 23rd at 2:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons with Dr. William I. Sauser, Jr. officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Clairmont Oaks or Peachtree Christian Hospice.
