George Alexander Russell

August 30, 1933 — March 24, 2015

George Alexander Russell, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 24, 2015, surrounded by his "girls," in Atlanta, GA. He was born in Athens, TN on August 30, 1933 to George Russell, Sr. and Ora Lunn Russell. He is the eldest of three children. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and when he returned, he married, Mary Debusk. Together they had three girls. He owned his own business, Russell Auto Parts. George and Mary had an open home, in which they often took in friends in need. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, coach, and friend. He is survived by his dear wife of 59 years, Mary, his three daughters, Lisa Fuller, Tammy Sumner (Tom), Maria Koch (Evan) and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 6:30 pm in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons. He will be buried in Georgia National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at A. S. Turner & Sons, 2773 N. Decatur Rd; Decatur, GA 30033.
