Geretha Baldwin

Geretha Maddox Baldwin, age 84, of Decatur, GA, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2013, at her home. She was born July 4, 1928, in Andalusia, AL to William Oscar and Winnie Mae Maddox. She married Buren L. Baldwin September 7, 1946 and they moved to Atlanta, GA. They opened Oak Grove Pharmacy in Decatur, GA in 1958 and worked side by side for 43 years. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her loving husband, Buren; her brothers, Madison (Buck), Leo and Max Maddox. She is survived by her loving daughters, Kaye Baldwin and Les Girardot, of Decatur, GA; Gaye Baldwin Maughon and husband Buddy, of Buford, GA; Faye Baldwin and her canine kids, of Ocala, FL; and Anna Raye Baldwin of Maysville, GA. She is also survived by her grandsons, Jamie Fountain and wife Tiare, of Decatur, GA; Michael Ogletree and wife Taylor, of Austin, TX; Hunter Fountain and wife Lauren, of Tucker, GA and Capers Ogletree of Portland, OR; her sister, Mary Brown, of Crestview, FL; her brother, Gyles Maddox and wife Evelyn, of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law, Althea Maddox of Stockbridge, GA and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She had one great granddaughter, Sofia Fountain, whom she absolutely adored. Her greatest love was for her family and she gave generously and tirelessly to all. Her family was truly blessed to have such a hard working and loving mother. She had a huge extended family of friends, was loved by all, and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons with Pastor L. K. Pendleton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mercer University School of Pharmacy, Buren L. Baldwin Scholarship Fund, 3001 Mercer Dr; Atlanta, GA. 30041. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at A. S. Turner Funeral Home and Crematory.
