Gwendolyn Rice Fowlkes, 86, died Thursday Nov. 3, 2016. She was a member of Avondale-Pattillo United Methodist Church and an active supporter of Decatur Athletics and the Decatur community. She was born August 22, 1930 in Atlanta, GA. She graduated from West Fulton HS in 1946. She was predeceased by her husband, Will Doc Fowlkes Sr, by her daughter Mary Lynne Fowlkes Brady and by her son, Edgar Thomas Fowlkes, and survived by her sons, WD (Buddy) Fowlkes Jr, David (Lisa) and Jimmy (Ellena), 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday Nov. 12, 2016 at Avondale Pattillo Methodist Church. There will be a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Decatur Bulldog Boosters, P O Box 3241, Decatur, GA 30031 (Fowlkes in the memo line) or to Avondale Pattillo UMC, 3260 Covington Hwy, Decatur, GA 30032.
