Harriett Wadsworth Ragland, age 83 of Stone Mountain, GA passed away peacefully on July 31, 2015. Harriett was born on July 7, 1932 to John and Lois Wadsworth in Haines City, FL. After growing up in Florida, Harriett attended college at Wesleyan College in Macon, GA where she graduated with a degree in history. In 1954, Harriett married Tom Ragland, and they were married for 41 years until his death in 1995. Harriett was an educator and spent most of her career as a teacher and para-professional in DeKalb County Schools. Over the years, she developed special friendships with colleagues from Skyland and Montclair Elementary Schools. With a husband and four boys to feed, Harriett became a great cook, and many family memories centered around her old fashioned southern meals. Traveling with family or friends was a passion that took her to places like Alaska, Hawaii, England, France, Norway, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Between travels, she was a voracious reader and trivia buff. During her retirement years, Harriett led the way in spearheading a monthly trivia night for Park Springs community members. Harriett's life was blessed with friendships that spanned more than 50 years many of whom she and Tom met as a young couple while attending North Decatur United Methodist Church.

She is survived by son and daughter-in law, Thomas and Anastasia Ragland (Atlanta, GA); son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Felicia Ragland (Louisville, KY); son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Kimberly Ragland (Peachtree Corners, GA); and son, David Ragland (Atlanta, GA). At age 57, Harriett became a grandmother and thereafter was lovingly referred to as Grandy. In total, she had five grandchildren: Jessica and Hunter Ragland; Katelyn Casey; Ian and Christian Hudgens. Preceding Harriett in death were her husband, Tom Ragland; her parents; a brother, John; and two sisters, Ina and Eloise.
