Helen Treible Whipple, age 99, passed away peacefully Friday morning, August 22, at Golden Living Center - Briarwood in Tucker, Ga. She was preceded in passing by her son, Donald, in 1992, and her husband, Lewis, 1993. She is survived by her sons: Bruce in Los Angeles, and Robert in Decatur. Helen was born in Andes, New York and grew up in Norwich, New York. She Graduated from SyracuseUniversity with a major in drama, and taught in upstate New York for two years before marrying. After marriage, she and Lewis lived in Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado, and finally DecaturGeorgia… all moves due to Lewis’ career in the U.S. Forest Service. She went beyond the call with her loving care for Lewis in his decade long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The family will receive friends at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 26.
