Henrietta (Boots) Young

Henrietta "Boots" Young peacefully passed away on May 2, 2012. Boots was born in Fairfield, AL on June 25, 1917 to Joe and Henrietta Scholl. After graduating from school she married Hardaway Young, Jr. and in 1942 moved to Decatur, GA. Boots was a wonderful mother, grandmother, Scout leader, ballroom dancer, swimmer, employee of the Decatur DeKalb Y on Clairmont Rd. and a doting great grandmother. Most of all, Boots was focused on loving and serving her family. Boots was preceded in death by her husband, Hardaway; sons, David and Hardaway (Buddy); and her only sister, Marion H. Hawley of SC. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Harriet and James Segars; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Judy Young; grandchildren, Cathy Young, Beth Segars McRae, Carol Young Crawford, Julie Segars Smith, Jimmy, Matthew, Michael and Amy Young; and 8 adored great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 5th at 2:00 PM at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where Boots was a member for 70 years. Interment will follow at Decatur Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory.
