Herbert "Duke" Carl Jacob

Herbert Carl Jacob ('Duke'), 94, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed from this world on June 23, 2021.

Born on June 20,1927, in East Orange, NJ, he was the only child of Adolf and Anna (Henkle) Jacob.
Herbert was a proud veteran, having enlisted in the Merchant Marines and the Army for his service during World War II.

He married Rachel Testa Jacob in May 1950 and lived in Newark, Union and then Edison, NJ.
Employed by Ronson and then Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ, Herbert retired to Stone Mountain, Ga in 1988 and then
ultimately resided in Lawrenceville, GA. In his retirement Herbert enjoyed war history, gardening, his turtles and dogs, lastly his Westie Devin.

Herbert is survived by his wife Rachel of 71 years, his three sons, Thomas K. Jacob of Decatur, GA, Robert K. Jacob and his husband Rob Murphy of Milford, NJ, Eric K. Jacob and his wife Melanie and their children Kelly and Christopher of Holland Township NJ, nephew Dr. Joseph Testa and his wife Giovanna of Buffalo NY, niece Lucille Testa of Springfield, NJ and close family friends Phillip Wolbrecht and Richard Smith of Atlanta, GA.
