Hugh Anderson Price

Hugh A. Price, Jr. of Avondale Estates, GA passed away peacefully at his home on March 31, 2013 at the age of 91. He was born in Gainesville, Texas to Hugh A. Price, Sr. and Virginia Price on April 23, 1921. In his formative years, his family moved about in several states, settling in Milledgeville, GA. He attended High School and Junior College at Georgia Military College where he graduated with honors in 1940. He proudly served his country for four years as a 1st Lieutenant during WW II, two of these years in the Aleutian Islands. He met his wife, Doris Fowler, while they were in college and were married a year after his return from the Aleutian Islands on December 4, 1944. After the war, they built a small home in Auburn, Alabama so he could finish his education and he graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Electrical Engineering (Communications) in December 1948. After graduation, he joined the Georgia Power Co. and worked for 32 years developing a sophisticated Communication System. He is survived by his sweetheart and loving wife of 68 years, Doris Fowler Price, four children - Doris Price Cannon husband Jerry, Hugh A. Price III wife Cheryl, William P. Price wife Jan, Charles R. Price wife Denise, seven Grandchildren and seven Great-Grandchildren. Funeral services will be at A.S. Turner and Sons Chapel, Decatur, GA on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at 3:00 PM at West View Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA.
