Jack Randolph Urban

November 8, 1952 — April 17, 2007

Jack Randolph Urban, 54, of the City of Decatur, died April 17, 2007 at home, surrounded by family. Jack was born in Beverly, MA, but he was raised in Lancaster, PA. Jack graduated from the New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse University with a degree in Landscape Architecture.  He worked in the field early on, and later became a general contractor.  He had a keen eye for design and was a skilled carpenter.  In 1979 Jack moved to Savannah, GA, where he met his wife Sharon. They moved to Atlanta in 1982. He is survived by his wife, the former Sharon Brewton, and two sons, Sam and Adam, as well as a sister, Sally Silberberg, of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, James and Mark Urban, of Annapolis, MD, and Portland, OR, respectively; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 21, at 2:00 PM, at the City of Decatur Cemetery Cinerarium, 299 Bell St., Decatur. In lieu of flowers, it was Jack's request that donations be sent to the Decatur Preservation Society or the Oakhurst Community Garden. Friends and family are invited to gather at the Urban home after the graveside service. A. S. Turner & Sons
