James Burton Howard

Mr. James Burton Howard Jr., age 93, of Stone Mountain died Monday, April 14, 2008, two months from his 94th birthday. There will be a graveside service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens on Thursday, April 17th at 11:00 AM with Dr. Jim Martin officiating. He was married to Catherine Davis Howard for 62 years before her death in 2000. He is survived by one son, Robert B. Howard of Cumming; one daughter, Nancy H. Smith of Lithonia; his sisters, Dorothy Hinton, and Ruth Howard. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher H. Smith, Gregory Scott Smith, Heather S. McCullough, Russell Coleman Smith, Kelley Ann Howard, Chad Howard; and great grandchildren, Haley Shea Smith, 15 yrs., Blake A. McCullough, 10 yrs., Meagan Shaw McCullough, 7 yrs., Kasey Elizabeth McCullough, 5 yrs., Ryan L. Harwell, 25 yrs., and Paige N. Harwell, 23 yrs. He retired from the Decatur Post Office in 1980 after 43 yrs. of service. He served his country in WW II. He was a Gentleman and a Gentle man and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday, April 16th at A. S. Turner and Sons in Decatur.
