James "Gene" Eugene Browning, Sr.

James Eugene (Gene) Browning, Sr. of Atlanta passed away January 27, 2021. He was born in Dekalb County, Ga on December 11, 1932 to Paul and Emily "Emmie" Harris Browning. He lived in the Atlanta area his entire life. He was preceded in death by his son James Eugene Browning, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Browning and his children; Jeff Browning (Donna), Jan NeSmith, and Julie Galbiati (Pete) all of Atlanta, Ga., Grandchildren: Kirsten Snyder (Sean) of Woodstock, Ga., Kailey Alf (Tristan) of Cameron, NC., Jared Browning of Kennesaw, Ga., Lindsey Duncan (Chris) of Suwanee, Ga., Sarah Browning of Atlanta, Ga., Joshua NeSmith (Katie) of Danielsville, Ga., Jeremiah NeSmith (JaneMarie) of Chesapeake, Va., Catherine NeSmith of Atlanta, Ga., Emmie Jules Galbiati of Atlanta, Ga. and Lilibeth Galbiati of Atlanta, Ga. Great Grandchildren: Charlie Alf, Owen Alf, Oakleigh Duncan, Maddox Duncan, James NeSmith, and Abby NeSmith.

He was a wonderful, godly man who was adored by so many people. He was a devoted husband and father who was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Others who preceded him in death were his parents, Paul and Emmie Browning; his brothers, Hoyt and Hollis Browning; his sisters, Willie Mae Lanier, Blanche Ferguson and Lois Lanier.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM at A.S. Turner & Sons funeral home, 2773 N Decatur Rd, Decatur, GA 30033 with a Chapel service immediately following at 11:00 AM (limited seating w/ overflow room available). For those who would prefer to attend the service from home, the funeral service will be livestreamed on A.S. Interment will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church, 5791 Town Creek School Rd. Blairsville, GA 30512.
