Jean Cromwell Stiebel

March 24, 1927 — April 6, 2020

Jean Cromwell Hawkins Stiebel, born March 24, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on April 6, 2020. She was residing in Sunrise Senior Living of Decatur, Georgia. Jean was predeceased by her parents Roger Holmes Hawkins and Julia Cromwell Hawkins, her husband Carl L. Stiebel (2003), her daughter, Linda Hart (1981), and her son, Gary Richard Stiebel (2015).
Jean is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mallory L. Stiebel; granddaughter, Laura A. Walters and her husband Richard P. Walters; grandson Derek A. Stiebel and his wife Elizabeth A. Stiebel; great grandchildren: Anneliese M. Walters, Corbin M. Walters, Garrett J. Walters, and Margaret E. Stiebel. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Jesse Edd Hart and his wife, Carla Fletcher Hart.
Jean grew up outside Baltimore in Glen Burnie and attended Glen Burnie High School where she participated in school music productions. After graduation, she attended the Maryland Institute of Arts in Baltimore establishing a talent for painting which continued throughout her life.
Jean met her husband, Carl, while working as a stenographer at Baltimore Community College. They married on July 5, 1947 and Carl soon took employment with International Harvester. This career saw moves to Atlanta, Chicago and finally Upper Arlington, Ohio, where they lived for many years during which Jean was a successful realtor.
After retiring in 1983, they moved to Sarasota, Florida where they became active members of The Sahib Shriners Club and The Mariners Club. They enjoyed many social activities and also spent time planning and participating in various charity events.
Jean had a warm personality and a wonderful sense of humor; along with, a flair for fashion and decorating. Her radiant smile would light up a room. Jean will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Jean will be interred with Carl at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
