Jeanette Mitchell Winslett

Jeanette Mitchell Winslett, 97, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospice House in Athens, GA. She was born on February 6, 1918, in Hazelhurst, GA to the late Dock and Fleeta Mitchell. She was married to the late William Jasper Winslett for 57 years, until he passed away October 12, 1996. They lived their entire married life in DeKalb County and were long time members of Clarkston Baptist Church.In 2001 Jeanette moved to Lilburn, GA and was a resident at Gwinnett Christian Terrace, where she lived for 13 years. She made new friends and reacquainted with old friends and enjoyed her time there. Due to health reasons, she moved to Magnolia Estates assisted living facility in Bogart, GA where she again made new friends and loved all the wonderful staff who took such good care of her. She considered them all as family.Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra Moore and Sylvia Horan, son-in-law, Tim Culligan, as well as her brothers Harold Mitchell, Maurice Mitchell, Carl Mitchell and Charles Mitchell, and her two sisters, Mary Ella Watkins and Ruby Wood.She is survived by her remaining daughter, Sherry Culligan and her son-in-law, Ronald Moore, brother, Melvin Mitchell; grandchildren Kevin Moore, Jared (Krystal) Moore, Patrick Culligan, Erin (Paul) Sakacsi and Sean (Alicia) Culligan; great-grandchildren William Culligan, Robert Culligan, Camryn Culligan and Piper Sakacsi. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15, at 3:00 P.M. at A.S. Turner & Sons, in Decatur, GA with burial to follow at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, GAThe family will have visitation on Wednesday, October 14, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 1:00 at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home And Crematory.
